Duct tape to the rescue!

topic posted Tue, September 6, 2005 - 1:47 PM by  Terry
Here's a few of the ways we used duct last week:

1. Patch a hole in the shower hose
2. A no-sew border for a flag we made out of some fabric
3. Makeshift lid for hardware containers

    2. Made the scoop for a spoon with a bent (with multitool) playa marker flag wire to dig gunk out of my generator fuel tank.
    3. Covered the broken glass edges of the back window of my van (I locked my keys inside - Playa MacGyver loser!

If you can't fix it with duct tape, you shouldn't have broke [sic] it in the first place.

I love the people who complain that duct tape doesn't come off easily, or leaves a residue. OF COURSE you silly dorks, the whole POINT of duct tape is that it stays put. If you want something that comes off, use gaff tape. protapes.com/catalog.php
    Duh.

i agree delta. i work in the theater and duct tape is simply verboten and the mark of an amateur. granted gaff is considerably more expensive, but can do everything duct can, and leaves no residue. well *most* of the time. not to sound like an elitist, and for the record, i am bringing several rolls of duct. however, if you can afford it, spread the gospel of gaff.

Howdy all, I just joined here my intro
"Duct tape is like the force, it has a dark side, a light side and it holds the uiverse together"
I am not sure who said it.

    Gaff rules!
Ziploc around camera/lens, cover up corporate logo on otherwise great playa insulated aluminum cup, repair RV awning that ripped in the wind (damn!), AND wrapped rv starter wire.

Speaking of MacGyver, my bf rocks for remembering SAND PAPER to sand and reconnect electrical wires in rv starting system - got us off the playa!
