I discovered this at a burner event last weekend. I handed someone a new container of bubbles and they opened it to find there was no bubble wand inside. So I went to my handy Bag of Useful Things, got out some zip ties, put the end through the fastener to make a loop about 1" in diameter, and -presto- bubble wand. This is also great when you have several people sharing the same container. plus, the long handle keeps you from getting gooky.
what? you think bubble wands aren't an important playa macgyver discovery? you trying going a whole burn with your bubbles. yeah, you'll be sorry. ;)

Sat, June 2, 2007 - 6:08 PMAlso in a pinch with a pie pan you can use any plastic cup by putting a hole in the bottom and using the wind as your blower...
By the way I am a big fan of bubbles at any point in time, including when drinking at a bar alone and none of the people are either interested in talking to me or are interested in talking ot me for reasons that I am not interested in responding.
I personally have found it very handy to always carry an emergancy bottle of bubbles, trust me traffic is way more fun if you are blowing bubbles and car dancing to tunes instead of noting that you really aren't moving, but actually enjoying the slow senic view of your life if you are willing to understand that you are at gods pace with mans specific intervention into your personal planing... -

Sat, June 2, 2007 - 6:12 PMEmergency Bottle of Bubbles. lol!!! too funny!
I've found that they can have a calming affect because blowing bubbles requires you to move slowly and take deep breaths. It's also a nice ice breaker sometimes. -

Sat, June 2, 2007 - 6:39 PMI keep a bag of fun stuff in the car. I call the emergency fun kit.
1. Water Bubble Ring Game
2. Drawing Pad & Pencils
3. Pearls Before Swine Comic Book
4. Bubbles
5 - 10 Randomness that finds its way there that I forget about until I am in need of EMERGENCY FUN!
Honestly I think the world would be a much more fun space if everyone carried this kit right next to the road and ingurery kits that are common place to our socity... -

Sat, June 2, 2007 - 7:50 PMHere is a challenge that only a good dollar store provides...
go in with $5 plus tax and you can walk out with hours of entertainment if you shop in the kids area.
I think that if you are having an exodus of any kind it would probably be good to plan on irritation..
I am not sure why but the word exodus and irritation just seem to fit well together and should be considered worthy of intervention

Hi all, I couldn't resist the topic of bubbles & bubblewands : )....so I was lured into joining & posting! : )
Ms. Dynomite ! twist ties that is ingenious!, since I always have a surplus & hate to throw them out (which reminds me I need to get a new recycle bin). I used to have a FAB bubblewand from Salem MA. It was a funky painted wooden stick with a marble wrapped in copper wire at one end, the wire spiraled up the stick then the top was soldered copper wire -that was sort of oddly shaped...reminded me of a Mickey Mouse Head silouette. It made TONS of giant bubbles : ) Since I lost that one it would be cool if I could find another, or make some with funky crystals attached ! Really who doesn't love a bubble wand! -btw Ms. Dynomite, I LOVE yourcostume archive pic!
For that matter who doesn't love the dollar store? Last halloween I got tons of tiny toys, mixed em into my candy dish & let trick or treaters have their pick. When I was little there was a dentist house that gave out wiggly monster pencil toppers instead of candy, that was always my favorite house!......anyhow, yes great for activity kits, the one near me even has mini paint sets the size of a credit card : )
Meta Performance,
Since I saw your post & I was digging through old music clips on youtube the other day i couldn't help but think of this one

Re: zip ties make perfect bubble wands
Mon, July 23, 2007 - 4:27 AMThe Admiralllll believes this idea represents the best spirit of Playa MacGyvers. What I especialy love is the fact that you could also make the zip tie buble wand from ones already used once and clipped with enough length to use again.
I once used a clipped zip tie tightened on a plastic botle cap to use as an emergency yogurt spoon. The loop held the cap tight while hand holding on to the long end. The long end also proved useful to scrape the last few bits from the bottom corner of the tapered cylinder plastic container. -
